About
An index, not a shop
Sheet music is sold in a strange market. The same piece exists in a dozen editions across a dozen shops at a dozen prices, and half of it is free if you know where to look. We built the index we wanted.
What is in here
Just under 838,000 pieces, attributed to 117,000 composers, with 2.2 million editions tracked across retailers and public-domain archives. It skews classical, because that is where the deepest catalogues are, but it covers a great deal of popular, sacred, folk and educational repertoire too.
What we do with it
For any piece, we try to answer three questions: who wrote it, what it is scored for, and where you can get it — including free, where free is legal and real. Prices are compared side by side so you are not opening eight tabs to find out that one shop is charging double.
What we do not do
We do not sell sheet music, host copyrighted scores, or take a cut of your price. Some retailer links pay us a commission, which is explained in full here.
Where the data comes from
The catalogue was assembled over many years from retailer listings and public archives. It is not perfect: some listings are old, some links have rotted as shops closed or restructured, and some titles are duplicated under variant spellings. We repair what we find and we would rather show you an honest gap than a confident guess.
