Biography

An American composer, lyricist and arranger who has published more than 1,900 works, Ruth Elaine Schram took up piano and music theory at five years old. She wrote her first song by the age of twelve. She has studied music at Lancaster Bible College and Millersville State College. The range of her work as an arranger is phenomenal. She has arranged classical American folk songs such as “I’ve Been Workin’ On the Railroad” and “Someone’s in the kitchen with Dina.” She has also done the same for the Spanish and English lyrical mix “A La Nanita Nana,” which moves the listener through haunting visceral sounds to a sweet and gentle lullaby. She has created numerous children’s videos. Perhaps incongruously, her music was also featured in the HBO television series “The Sopranos.” Schram is the recipient of an ASCAP Special Award, and she now lives in Birmingham, Alabama, with her husband and two daughters. Over twelve million copies of Schram’s songs have been sold
